Zalman CNPS9X Performa CPU Cooling System: A Perfect Balance of Performance and Affordability
The Zalman CNPS9X Performa CPU cooling system features a well-engineered design with a special black coating on the heatsink and heat pipes, paired with a quiet fan equipped with uniquely shaped Vortex Breaker Blade (VBB) blades. This ensures active airflow and efficient heat dissipation.
The product line includes a modification of the Zalman CNPS9X Performa processor cooling system – CNPS9XPERFORMABLACK in black without lighting.
The TDP rating is 180W. This air cooling system is compatible with modern AMD and Intel sockets without the need for additional brackets. All necessary mounting hardware is included in the package.
Materials and Design Features
The base of the system includes an aluminum tower-type heatsink with an optimal height of 157 mm, thin flat fins and a carefully designed layout for unrestricted heat dissipation. The cooler fits easily into modern cases. The optimal height of the air cooling system ranges from 157 to 160 mm.
The surface of the plates and copper heat pipes features a special black coating applied using an electrophoretic dispersion spraying method. This coating enhances thermal radiation, protects the product from corrosion and gives it a stylish look that highlights the construction's shape.
The symmetric layout of the four copper heat pipes is designed for maximum compatibility with a wide variety of motherboard configurations. The cooler will not obstruct other system components. This layout also helps create separate air channels. The total heat dissipation area is 6,510 cm².
DTH Technology Implementation
The copper heat pipes are in direct contact with the CPU and are spaced optimally from each other. The CPU cooler is built using DTH (Direct Touch Heatpipe) technology, which improves heat transfer and enhances overall cooling performance.
Fan Features
The CNPS9XPERFORMABLACK model is equipped with a 120 mm PWM fan featuring Vortex Breaker Blade (VBB) technology, with blade shapes inspired by bird wings. This feature promotes active airflow and efficient heat removal from the heatsink surface. PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) control adjusts the fan speed automatically based on the CPU temperature. This helps reduce noise and maintain optimal cooler performance.
The fan’s noise level does not exceed 28 dBA. It operates on a hydraulic bearing, ensuring a long service life of up to 50,000 hours under maximum load. Special rubber pads are located on the corners of the fan frame to reduce vibrations during operation. These pads are made from medium-hardness material that is durable, wear-resistant and maintains shape over time.
Cooling System Installation
The cooler’s mounting system is made from hardened steel and features a durable galvanic or black matte lacquer coating. The second type of coating is the entire surface of the heatsink except for the base. The air cooling system is easy to install and remove. The package includes Zalman’s high-performance ZM-STC8 thermal paste with a thermal conductivity rating of 8.3 W/m•K.
