Veritas Technologies has officially announced the strategic separation of its business into two independent companies. The decision is aimed at streamlining product and service management and enabling the growth of each new organization.

As a result of the separation:

Arctera will receive:

Veritas Enterprise Vault, a leading email and file archiving solution.
Veritas Information Map, a tool for visualizing and managing unstructured data.
Veritas Data Insight, an analytics product for monitoring data access and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Long-term data retention management products, including Veritas Access.
Veritas Backup Exec, a data backup and recovery solution.

Cohesity will receive:

Backup and recovery products, including Veritas NetBackup.
Cloud integration solutions, including NetBackup CloudPoint.
Ransomware protection and data resilience tools.

Separation Objectives

Arctera will specialize in long-term storage, archiving and compliance management, which will help businesses organize their information assets more efficiently.
Cohesity will focus on innovation in data backup, recovery and protection (particularly in cloud environments), offering modern solutions tensure business continuity.
